CNN did an even stupider thing in firing a reporter who referred inentionally to Mitt Romney's "magic underwear."
I don't know why the NRO feels like it needs to take a shot at CNN's reporter when they've traditionally chastised the ESPN version of things.
But what they seem not to get is that Jeremy Lin is immutably of Chinese Dissent. Mitt Romney is not immutably a Mormon. He chooses to be Mormon. He can choose not to be.
The notion that we as culture cannot criticize the beliefs of others simply because they are religious beliefs.
But mocking some religions is okay? This is what the NRO asks, rhetorically. Um, yes. Why is it not OK to mock Catholicism for its silly transubstantiation claims or virgin birth claims. Or, that I am going to "hell" because I don't believe the same silly things that you believe?
These are imminently MOCK WORTHY ideas. They are different vis a vis catholics than skin color or ethnicity or gender is for their respective people in that their adherents CHOOSE to believe them.
